OPTICS directory instructions:

1. Installation is performed by copying the OPTICS.EXE file to the root
directory of your hard disk and then typing:

               optics -d

A new directory called OPTICS will be created and all files will be copied
into that directory or a directory beneath it.

2. The KDP program manual and tutorial are in the files MANUAL.DOC and
TUTORIAL.DOC in the OPTICS directory. Read them! They are MS WORD files.

3. To run KDP, go to the OPTICS directory and type KDP. Run the tutorial
   exercises to get started.

   Rebuilding KDP

1. Install the Lahey F77L-EM32 copiler on your computer. If you don't have one
call 702-831-2500 and buy one. It is the only way to rebuild KDP.

2. Copy all the files in the OPTICS/FIGS directory to the F77L3/BIN directory.
These are the compiler configuration files.

3. Type MAKEOPT to compile all subroutines which are out of date.

4. Type LN to link KDP

5. Now you have a new copy of KDP to run.

NOTE: All KDP source code is in the directories beneath OPTICS/SOURCE
or OPTICS/SPURCE/HARDWARE.
